Book Review

Summary: The report on a book of your choice, appropriate for Economics of Sustainability, is defined here.

A book review of an appropriate book of your choice, counting 16 points, is due on April 15, 2013. Please indicate in an e-mail message to me the book you have chosen and provide a few sentences on why you chose this book.

I will be flexible but assess how the book supports the learning in Economics of Sustainability. Mostly, the book should contribute to some aspect of how you participate in the overall economy. This might promote a career or a business, satisfy a material need, enlighten investments for retirement, so long as it supports a theme of sustainability.

The section below helps guide how you might approach this assignment. If you discover a better way, please e-mail me about how you will proceed to avoid misunderstandings. The report should be double-spaced in ten-point font and encompass about five or six pages.

Please submit the essay as a MS Word attachment to an email sent to whayes@ramapo.edu or to wkhayes@gmail.com by class time on April 15. If you submit the document by April 10, I will review it to make suggestions for revisions.

The Book Report

I suggest that you follow this format for the writing of the report:

  1. Identify the book and provide a two-paragraph abstract that succinctly defines the book.

  2. In about three or four double-spaced pages, explain what you learned from the book. I am not looking for a summary but rather a depiction of your learning.

  3. What will you bring into your life as a result of studying your book? This is an open-ended question that should be a page or two.
