Sustainability

• The Environmental Research Foundation and its editor, Peter Montague, puts out Rachel's Environmental and Health Weekly, providing outstanding analysis of enivronmental and sustainability issues.
• Envisioning a Sustainable and Desirable America provokes thought on just that. The envisioning paper was written by Dr. Robert Costanza, director of the Ecological Economics program at the University of Maryland and pioneer in sustainability.
• The Sustainable Agriculture Network website serves as a clearinghouse for information on sustainable agriculture and does research to promote the field. Check out their Northeast chapter, located in Burlington, Vermont.
• The Earth Charter Campaign promotes sustainable development and a just world.
• World Government Institute devotes its web site to establishing a progressive, equitable, peaceful world government.
• Note that the World Bank's Home Page acknowledges the theme of Sustainable Development: But do they walk their talk?

Ecological Economics

• The University of Maryland program in Ecological Economics has been organized by Dr. Robert Costanza, a pioneer in ecological economics.
• The University of Colorado offers a variety of resources promoting ecological economics.
• Compiled by Tom Tietenberg, Professor of Economics, Colby College, the Sustainable Development/Economics Homepage offers an extensive bibliography of works on ecological economics and sustainable development. Bibliography headings include an extensive coverage on Tradable Permits
• Professor Don Roper of University of Colorado kindly posts the syllabus for his Sustainable Economics course, with lots of helpful discussion and links.
• Professor Noureil Roubini at the Stern School of Business at New York University runs an timely web site on current issues in ecological political economy.
• Bryn Mawr College provides web resources promoting progressive environmental economics
• Richard Douthwaite distinguishes goods from bads from his County Mayo, Ireland, home base.
• Mother Jones features an article on Natural Capitalism by Paul Hawken.

Corporations, Trade and Alternatives

• Public Citizen, founded by Ralph Nader, runs Global Trade Watch. They have given special attention to WTO.

• The Bridges Trade News Digest also publishes the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and the Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, the NAFTA and Inter-America Trade Monitor. These pages list links to many related web sites. Note that excerpts from these sites can be used in other publications with appropriate citation. • Charles E. Mueller, expert on both utilities and the economics of monopoly, offers the Antitrust Law and Economics Review with an orientation that is both pro-consumer and pro-environment. • Examine the home page of the United Steelworkers of America and USWA's Fair Trade Watch web site. Learn more about NAFTA, the USWA's lawsuit against NAFTA, WTO, Fair Trade, IMF, Most Favored Nation trade status, the Multilateral Agreement on Investment, Fast Track, and international trade statistics.
