World Sustainability ENST209

The original impulse embodied in the mainstay SSHS sustainability course, World Sustainability ENST209, has been re-thought and re-cast. An accessible and inviting synthesis is offered as a play. The major sections are now:

  1. The Anthropocene
  2. The Technosphere
  3. The responses: strategic sustainability and the Noosphere

The major course elements include:

  1. The syllabus for the Spring 2011 offering.
  2. The schedule for the Spring 2011, which includes references to dedicated work prepared for SUST640. Preliminary versions are available.

Economics of Sustainability SUST640

This new graduate course was assigned to me in November 2009, after the sabbatical project had been submitted. The ARC-approved (final approval) required MASS course is initially offered in the Spring 2011. This necessity became a priority. SUST640 is completely consistent with the mission of the sabbatical project. Work includes:

  1. The syllabus for the Spring 2011.
  2. The final schedule for the Spring 2011, which includes references to dedicated work prepared for SUST640. Preliminary versions are available.
  3. Economic Strategies for Sustainability, a major revision and update of a previously published article that synthesizes ecological economics within the context of economic globalization.
